F00823 Obesity with Osteoarthritis of the Knee Trial

Are you suffering from obesity and osteoarthritis in your knees and struggling to lose weight? Fusion Clinical Research may be looking for you to participate in a new clinical trial!

This trial is for people with excess weight who have osteoarthritis of the knee. The study will test how well the investigational medicine (the medicine being studied) works for weight management and whether this improves knee pain.

The study will run for a total of up to 89 weeks, comprised of:

  • Screening Visit 1 and Visit 2
  • Day 1 (dosing day) – Visit 3
  • Site clinic visits every 4 weeks for 80 weeks (including dose escalation for the first 16 weeks only)
  • End of Study visit 4 weeks after the last dose administration

Between site clinic visits participants will self-administer their study drug at home once weekly via subcutaneous injection.
There will be no overnight stays for this study.

Eligibility requirements

  • Age: 18+
  • Sex:
  • BMI: ≥35 kg/m2
  • Medication: Exclusions: Are receiving metformin or any other glucose-lowering medication.
  • Medical History: Exclusions: Have a self-reported or documented change in body weight >5 kg within 90 days prior to screening. Have a prior or planned surgical treatment for obesity (Exceptions: liposuction, cryolipolysis, or abdominoplasty – if these procedures are occurred >1 year before screening. Have a prior or planned endoscopic and/or device-based therapy for obesity (Exception: Prior device-based therapy is acceptable if device removal was more than 6 months prior to screening. Have obesity induced by other endocrinologic disorders, for example, Cushing Syndrome, or are diagnosed with monogenetic or syndromic forms of obesity, for example, Melanocortin 4 Receptor deficiency or Prader Willi Syndrome. Have T1D, T2D, or any other types of diabetes, history of ketoacidosis, or hyperosmolar state/coma.

Payment/Remuneration

  • $60 per visit if pass screening and when enrolled on the study (not for the screening visit)
